Ties That Bind, Ties That Break #3

We finished with the book Alex and Lindsay so here is my question...

1 Question) If you were in Ailin position that night and you were on the boat, what would it of felt like to you. (Description in Book: "Our ship skirted the edge of a typhoon, which made it toss violenly. I had a bunk, and I was afraid I'd fall out in spite of the railing. Soon I became seasick to care. It did'nt help that the cabin was filled with the smell of vomit and the moans of those who wanted to die." Page 123, 1st paragragh.)

My Answer: If I was in Ailin position I would of been frightened and would of made me noscious because of the vomet. It would not be a great place for me to be right now. I would be fightened because of the violent waves making the boat tip back and forth. I would also be scared because if a wave pushed the boat really hard I would of fell out of the bunk. And that would of been a long fall. It would be really scary if I was on that boat.

2 Question) I saw a couple of words in the book that confused me. So what are some words in the book that you thought was an interesting word or didn't know the word.

My Answer: One of the words that I did not know in this book was typhoon.
Definition: A typhoon is a hurricane. Typhoons are usually located on the China seas.

1)I agree with you Lindsay. I think that is the problem. I also think that the father does not want her to go to school because of the kids there and maybe he thinks that she is going to be picked on. Or because he has never seen a girl or women teacher there at the public school. Also because the father thinks that she is not going to have a godd future going to a the public school.

2) I agree with you. To me she looks like she is going to have a strong future because she wants to go to school so thats good. And if she wanted to go to school then she is probably going to try to get good grades. I agree with you about she becoming an amah. And that she will move out of the hous and get married. To me she is going to have a really good future.

1) I think that her mom and grandma and also their servents want her feet binded because it is a big tradition that they belive in. And I think that they do not want to break that tradition. I think that her father does not want her feet binded because I think that he is letting her do what she wants to do to her own body. I also agree with you that her father is letting her to her own desicions.

Alex Reply: I think that it is more than just that he wants to let her do what she wants to do, I think that he thinks she should get to make her own decisions. But maybe the women think that since they had to go through it too then she should have to also.
